Terra-fied tells the story of a hopeless captain, a secretive scientist, an unpredictable engineer, and their not-so-subservient spaceship, iGEV. The crew and their ship are on a mission, tasked with them by the Councils of Earth Original, to find and terraform a new planet, Earth 2.0., as a solution to Earth's increasing overpopulation problem. Terra-fied tells the story of a hopeless captain, a secretive scientist, an unpredictable engineer, and their not-so-subservient spaceship, iGEV. Switchboard Collective developed Terra-fied in collaboration with The University of Queensland interactive designers, Peter Worthy and Trevor Hunter. Through this collaboration, we developed an interactive aspect to the production lighting used for Terra-fied. The performers wear transdermal patches that register electrical signals triggered by the performers' emotional responses. The transdermal patches are connected to nanopixels integrated into the costumes with conductive thread and register the signals as light, outputting different colours for each emotion. By integrating this technology into the production, Terra-fied creates a unique platform to explore the emotional processing of performers, live and onstage.
